Max Drivetime (Drivetime Diameter / Max Drive)
What it measures:
Measures the total geographic span of a territory by finding the single longest drive time between any two extreme locations inside its boundary.
What its used for:
- Highlight Excessive Travel: Helps you instantly spot territories where a sales or service representative could face unusually long driving legs.
- Guides Territory Rebalancing: Highlights territories with large geographic spans where accounts or clusters of accounts are spread far apart so you can quickly rebalance and restructure territories for better workload fairness.
Estimated Tour Time
What it measures
Estimates the total driving hours required for a rep to visit every assigned location in the territory sequentially in a single trip
What its used for:
- Assess Travel Burden: Quickly understand how much windshield time is required for a given territory.
- Balance Workloads: Compare travel times across different sales or service areas to ensure fair and manageable territory assignments.
Estimated Tour Distance
What it measures:
Calculates the total road mileage or kilometers required to complete a full visit circuit across all locations in the territory.
What its used for:
- Track Fuel and Mileage: Estimate vehicle wear, fuel requirements, and overall transit costs for a territory.
- Compare Regional Scales: Easily spot geographic size differences between territories to ensure balanced coverage
Compactness
What it measures:
Scores how rounded or consolidated a territory's shape is (0 to 1) to spot irregular boundaries that cause reps to crisscross needlessly.
What its used for:
- Minimize Wasted Travel: Stretched or fragmented territories force significantly more driving between locations.
- Identify Restructuring Targets: A score below 0.30 highlights territories that are prime candidates for re-alignment to improve overall operational efficiency.
Average Nearest Neighbor Distance
What it measures:
Measures account density by calculating the average straight-line distance from each account to its closest neighboring account.
What its used for:
- Identify Location Density: Instantly recognize whether a territory is dense (short distances between stops) or sparse (long distances between stops).
- Optimize Visit Frequency: Highly clustered territories allow for higher visit rates per day compared to spread-out regions.
Territory Area
What it measures:
Represents the total geographic footprint (in square kilometers or miles) covered by all locations in the territory.
What its used for:
- Gauge Spatial Coverage: Understand the physical size of the footprint your operations need to cover.
- Compare Regional Footprints: Differentiate between compact urban coverage zones and massive regional spans.
Diameter
What it measures:
Measures the maximum straight-line distance across the territory as a geometric baseline when live road routing is unavailable.
What its used for:
- Baseline Size Benchmark: Provides a quick, uniform geographic scale for the entire territory.
- Fallback Metric: Serves as the primary geographic baseline when direct road routing is unavailable.
Territory Balance Grading
What it measures:
Evaluates how evenly key metrics (like account count, revenue potential, or workload) are distributed across all territories on your map using statistical variation.
What its used for:
- Attribute Agnostic: Evaluates relative variation regardless of the underlying metric (whether measuring total accounts, currency, or hours).
- Distribution Index: Produces a single balance score where lower values indicate near-identical territory splits, and higher values reflect significant disparities across regions.
Territory Coverage Grading
What it measures:
Measures the percentage of total accounts assigned to a territory versus those left unassigned to highlight coverage gaps.
What its used for:
- Prevent Lost Opportunities: Ensure accounts are clearly owned so leads and key relationships aren't overlooked.
